These hands-on classes teach kids fundamental techniques needed to prepare a variety of basic meals. Along the way we stress kitchen safety and the proper use of and care of cooking tools. All classes begin with instruction on the recipes being prepared including ingredients, measurements and procedure. Participants then prepare the items listed in each class with the guidance and supervision of instructors. The menus are designed to stress fresh ingredients and kid-friendly flavors. As the class progresses the kids get to eat the dishes they prepared and ask questions. Classes are geared towards children over 10 years old. View our COVID safety guidelines.
Since the pandemic began, we have followed both CDC and Pennsylvania Department of Health guidelines related to COVID-19 safety protocols. Guidelines have recently changed. While we have not received guidance from the local authorities, we have reached out to regular customers and local businesses in an effort to modify our COVID policy regarding cooking classes.
The CDC announced on May 13 that individuals fully vaccinated for COVID-19 no longer need to wear a mask while indoors. Shortly after the CDC announcement, the Pennsylvania Department of Health announced that effective immediately, anyone fully vaccinated for COVID-19 is not subject to the state Mask Order, which remains in effect until 70 percent of Pennsylvanians are vaccinated. In accordance with this announcement, beginning Tuesday, May 18, class participants and our staff who are fully vaccinated are not required to wear a face covering.
Fully vaccinated is defined as:
Unvaccinated or Partially Vaccinated Individuals
If you do not meet the above requirements, you are not considered fully vaccinated and therefore are required to continue to wear a mask during the class except while they are eating and drinking. We are counting on the integrity of our community to follow this guidance based on their vaccination status.
